General Race Information

  • You must register to receive a Race t-shirt.
  • We ask that every participant register in the proper age group. Ages 0-3 are free of charge.
  • The registration fee helps to cover the cost of operations but personal giving and fundraising is what enables Komen to save lives locally.

Q. When is the Race?
   A. The Race will be held on May 9, 2015. The Race start time will be at 9:00 am.

Q. Where is the Race?
   A. The Race will be held at Library Square, Salt Lake City . 

Q. How long is the Race?
   A. The Race is a 5K route, which is approximately 3.1 miles. There is also a shorter route option (approximately 1 mile). You may choose to walk or run either route. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on Race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers.

Q. How much is the registration fee?
   A. Early Bird Registration (March 1-15)

  • $15 for Youth (ages 4-18)
  • $25 for Adults (ages 19-64)

Regular Registration (March 16-May 8)

  •  $20 for Youth
  •  $35 for Adults
  •  $30 for Breast Cancer Survivors and Seniors (65+)
  •  $35 to "Sleep in for the Cure"

      $45 on Race day for all participants (March 9)

    Note: You must register to receive a Race T-shirt. Your registration fee helps to cover the cost of operations but personal giving and fundraising is what enables Komen to impact lives here locally and fund research.

Q. What is included in the registration fee?
   A. You will get a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® T-shirt, Race bib and a great feeling!

Q. How can I register?
   A. You can register online by clicking on the REGISTER button on the top of this page. You can also register offline by downloading Registration Form and mailing to the address: Susan G. Komen Utah 4900 S. Highland Drive, Suite B, Salt Lake City, UT 84117

Q. What do I do if I don’t have an e-mail address?

Q. When and where do I get my official Race bib and T-shirt (the Race packet)?

     A.To allow us to spend more funds on our mission, we are charging a small fee of $3.95 for the option to have T-shirts mailed. If you prefer to pick up your T-shirt and bib, the options are listed below.

  • By Mail: If you paid to receive your T-shirt by mail by Thursday, April 30th, your T-shirt and Race bib will be mailed.
  • Pick Up: If you did not pay to receive your T-shirt by mail and registered after April 30th, T-shirts can be picked up as follows:
    At our offices (on the second floor of the Mountain America Credit Union building at 4900 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City):
    Saturday, May 2nd (noon to 4pm)
    Monday, May 4th (3pm-8pm)

  • For Survivors: If you checked the box on the entry form indicating that you'd like to be recognized as a Survivor, and opted to have your T-shirt mailed, you will receive your pink Survivor T-shirt in the mail and may pick up your white Race T-shirt and pink Survivor cap in the Survivor Pink Café on Race day.

Q. When is the registration deadline?

  • Mail-in registration: Must be received by Thursday, April 30th if you paid to receive your T-shirt in the mail.
  • Online registration: Must register by midnight on Thursday, April 30th if you paid to receive your T-shirt in the mail. 
  • If you did not pay to receive your T-shirt by mail, registrations received after the above deadlines must be received online or in the mail before Race day.  T-shirts can be picked up as follows:

Q. What do I do if I forgot my username and password?

      A. To recover your password, please follow the recovery prompts on the login page. To recover your username, please send your first name, last name and registration e-mail address to info@komenutah.org or call 801-733-4815

Q. Why hasn't my T-shirt arrived? (everybody else has theirs and we registered at the same time).

   A. To save costs, we sometimes mail the T-shirts in bulk, meaning that different sizes ship on different days. If you haven't received a shirt within 1-2 weeks after receiving the others, please call us at 801-733-4815.


Q. How do I change my T-shirt size?

   A.Bring your T-shirt with you to one of the T-shirt pick-up locations and dates below, and we will be happy to exchange your shirt for you (subject to availability).

Q. Can I use the Komen logo on my team T-shirt?

   A. The Komen Official Team Insignia are available for your team T-shirt design. Request print-quality files from info@komenutah.org. NOTE: The Affiliate's logo, the national logo, and the running ribbon are NOT allowed on team T-shirts.

Q. How can I become a volunteer?
   A. We would love to have you join us! The success of the Komen Utah Race depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers. There are many ways you can get involved, for more information, click here.

Q. Where can I park?

   A. While there are options like street parking and pay lots downtown, we encourage you to carpool or use TRAX. There are two stations close to Library Square: the Courthouse Station on Main Street and the Library Station on 400 South. From the north, you may take Frontrunner and transfer to Trax. Stay tuned for information about an early Frontrunner train on the morning of the Race that will enable you to reach Library Square on time.


Q. Will there be disabled parking available?

   A. All vehicles displaying a disabled person’s license plate or disabled person’s placard, and transporting a disabled person, may be parked at any city parking meter without charge for up to two hours. The plate and placard are available from the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles. In addition, these same vehicles may park for up to two hours in the following restricted zones: freight loading, passenger loading and time limited parking zones. Vehicles may not be parked in areas where official signs or traffic markings prohibit stopping, standing or parking, including areas reserved for emergency use and bus stops.

Q. Are pets allowed at the event?
    A.
Due to the number of people at the Race we strongly recommend that you do not bring your pet.

Q. Are strollers or wheelchairs allowed?
   A. The Race is a family friendly event, therefore strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. However, we highly recommend that strollers and wheelchairs line up behind the runners as a courtesy to participants competing for times or medals.

Q. What if it rains?
   A. Komen holds the right to cancel or change the date or location of the Race at its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.

Fundraising FAQs

Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
   A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just imagine the IMPACT – If every Race participant raised just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in an additional $1.2 million to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!

Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
   A. Yes! Seventy-five percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast health education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining twenty-five percent supports our national research program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Q. What are some ways I can fundraise for my team/my individual goal?

Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
   A. We gladly accept donations year-round; however, only gifts received by May 31 can be included in the individual team totals or qualify for top fundraising prizes.

Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
   A. Yes.

Q. Where do I send donations?
   A. Please click the "DONATE" button on the top of this page to donate online. Or please mail to: 4900 S. Highland Drive Suite B, Salt Lake City, UT 84117. For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.

Q. When will I receive my fundraising rewards?
   A. Rewards can be picked up on Race Day at our "Incentives" tent at Liberary Square, or at the Komen Office after May 9th.

Team FAQs

Q. How do I form or join a team?
   A. If you haven't registered for the Race yet, you can click the "REGISTER" button at the top of this page, and select "Start a Team" or "Join a Team." Search for the name of the team you want to join and select it. If you are already registered for the Race, contact us at info@komenutah.org with your name and the team name you'd like to join/form or call 801-733-4815. There are two types of teams. Choose the one that suits your group: corporate/company (employers) or community teams (friends and family).

Q. What are the benefits of a team?
    A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved. To learn more check out the Team Rewards page.

Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
   A. In order to change your registration from individual to team member, please send an email to info@komenutah.org with the individual's name and the team name they'd like to be added to.

Q. What do I do if I can’t find my team’s name?

    A. Try spelling only part of the team’s name in the search box. If you spell the full name and one letter is incorrect it won’t show up in the search engine. If you still can’t find your team, contact us at info@komenutah.org or call 801-733-4815.


Q. Can I register my friend/family member?

    A. Each participant MUST register separately in order to secure consent to our Race waiver. Exception: parents may register their minor children. If you need to register your minor children, call our office at 801-733-4815 and we will assist you.


Q. I already registered as an individual. How can I join or form a team?

    A. If you are already registered for the Race, contact us at info@komenutah.org with your name and the team name you'd like to join/form or call 801-733-4815.

 

Q. When’s the last day to mail in my registration information? 

     A. To pay for and receive a T-shirt by mail, your entry form received in our offices or online by Thursday, April 30th. However, if you are picking up your T-shirt, you can register right until the day of the Race. Note, however, that day-of-Race registration is $45 for everyone.

Q. What is a Team Page?
    A. Your Team page is a Web page that people can visit to find a team member or donate to the efforts of the entire team. Although the default Team page contains sample text and photos, your Team Captain can customize this page for your team.

Q. How do I register if my company is paying my registration fee?
    A. Some companies offer free or discounted registrations for their employees. If your company is participating in this program, ask them for the special company code to use during online registration. If you would like to learn more about our Company Code program, contact us at info@komenutah.org or call 801-733-4815.

Q. Do teams have to fundraise?
    A. Teams are not required to fundraise but are certainly encouraged to do so! Fundraising as a team can be fun. Click here for some great ideas!

Q. Can donations made to a team be split or shared among team members?
    A. If a donor makes a single donation but wants it divided between specific team members, Contact us at 801-733-4815 or info@komenutah.org for assistance.
